Seven-week railway closure in New Mills, High Peak.

Seven-week railway closure in New Mills, High Peak.

Engineers are working to stabilise the embankment in the Hague Bar and Hague Fold areas of New Mills until autumn. If the emergency work is not carried out, there is a risk of 50,000 tonnes of earth falling from the railway into the River Goyt.

So far, one line of track has been open as the team prepare the site and install foundations into the earth which will stabilise the embankment.

Tree Felling Tender 2024

Our Parks Department have recognised the need to remove several trees around the town and we are inviting suppliers to submit quotes and documentation by the submission deadline of Monday 1 July 2024 at midday. We want the removal of the trees to ideally be concluded by Friday 19 July and welcome quotes from local businesses. Full details of the specifications and requirements.

Illegal Fly-tipping in New Mills

New Mills Town Council have recently been made aware of a spate of fly-tipping incidents at Wirksmoor Road Sub Station.

Unfortunately, HPBC Council CCTV Cameras don't cover that corner of the road. But HPBC Officers have taken steps to try to identify those responsible for the illegal dumping of rubbish and they have been asked to consider the installation of monitoring CCTV of the area.
